US Trade War With China And Other Countries

In history, the war was fought generally by men and weapons. But as we have developed and have moved to a new era, things have changed drastically. Now a new war has started, i.e. Trade war.

It was initiated when Trump government announced that they have given instructions to the US Trade Representatives (USTR).
The instructions were to impose an additional $100 billion tariff on Chinese goods in an escalating trade dispute.
After that, the USTR published a long list of import items that could receive up to 25% increase in tariff.
In response, the Chinese government also stated that they are ready and will take adequate actions if needed.

Since then the countries have increased tariff on the goods imported to them. Also, the US not only targeted China but many other nations.

The matter escalated and the relationship between the US and Chinese Company Huawei officially became worse. Huawei is the 2nd largest vendor of mobile phones in the world. The tension has been mounting for nearly a year and a half.

The primary source of conflict is that US intelligence and lawmaker believe that Huawei acts on behalf of the Chinese government. This undermines US national security and posing cybersecurity and privacy risks for American and UK customers. The US passed a law that banned US companies from doing any business with Chinese companies. Thus, Google was forced into suspending Huawei Android license.

The most significant business dealings of Huawei is with Google, the developer of Android. And suspension of Android licenses by Google will have huge implications for owners of Huawei smartphones and tablets.

Followed by this action Huawei says it has been preparing for this eventually. It has been building its own technology which will not be relied on US tech giants. Also, last year chief executive Richard Yu said in an interview that the company has a backup plan if it ever is cut off from the likes of Google and Microsoft. And that’s our plan B but of course, we prefer to work with the ecosystems of Google and Microsoft.

Scientists discovered a new mushroom that can make plastics biodegradable

According to a report from the Guardian, since the 1950s approximately 8.3 billion tons of plastic has been produced. That's equal to 800,000 Eiffel Towers.
And only 9% of it has been recycled. The remaining are causing drastic effects on our environment. To tackle this issue, scientists and researchers are working really hard to biodegrade plastic.

Our World plastic production has doubled over the past 50 years. If plastic consumption increases at its current rate, there would be more plastics than fishes in the ocean. Fortunately, researchers have found ways to solve this issue.

In Pakistan, researchers have found a type of fungus that survives on plastic. This fungus, i.e. Aspergillus tubingensis was found when the researchers were studying soil samples from a landfill in Islamabad. It breaks down polyester polyurethane, a plastic generally used to make car parts, adhesives, synthetic leather and so on.

The fungi secrete enzymes that break down the chemical bonds in plastic, and in return, the fungus gets food. However, the fungi release some greenhouse gases in the process. Researchers have not kept a track of it yet, but they are now seeking funding to create a large-scale plastic degradation system through fungi.

Another team at Kyoto University has found a plastic munching microbe. It took them 5 years of intensive searching through 250 samples. And at last, they were victorious in finding a bacterium that could live on poly (ethylene terephthalate) (PET). It's a common plastic used in clothing and bottles. They named the bacteria Ideonella sakaiensis. Since then, they have been conducting experiments and working to use the bacteria on a large scale.

These findings give a whole new approach to plastic recycling and decontamination. Also, this can help in reversing the effect caused by plastic to the environment.

Cannabis - Known for treating cancer.

Cannabis, also known as marijuana, pot, weed, ganja, Mary Jane and a host of other nicknames, is a psychoactive drug from the Cannabis plant. It comes from Indian hemp plants such as Cannabis Sativa and Cannabis Indica and can grow up to 18 feet high.

There are different forms of Cannabis and each has its own uses. One of them is Marijuana, which is smoked in hand-rolled joints, or in a pipe called bong. These can only be smoked in a vaporizer.
Vaporizers are important as they help in minimizing the effects associated with burning. Another type is used to produce hemp fiber for use in paper, textiles, and clothing.

That's not the end, cannabis is also useful for treating a number of different conditions. It has been used for medical purposes for many centuries.

According to reports, cannabis may be useful to help conditions such as Appetite loss, Cancer, Crohn's disease, eating disorders like anorexia, Epilepsy,  Glaucoma, Mental health conditions, asthma and so on.

A few studies have found that smoking marijuana can be helpful in treating nausea and vomiting caused by cancer chemotherapy. Also, smoking marijuana has helped in increasing food intake in HIV patients.

On the other hand, marijuana can lower the user's control over movement, give a feeling of euphoria("high"), anxiety and paranoia.

Cannabis does come with some disadvantages, but the benefits of it can't be ignored. Taking it into consideration, Canada became the second country in the world to legalize recreational marijuana.

The cannabis act states that the Canadian provinces retain the ability to ban recreational use. According to officials, the legalization of cannabis in Canada has created jobs, increased revenue, improved safety, and reduced illegal sales. Also, after the legalization of cannabis, the Canadian government has made $186 million in taxes.
Industrial experts say the revenue is quite overwhelming. Now, these taxes can be used in the development of the country.

Effects of Global Warming on Wildlife

To some people, wildlife refers to an undomesticated animal species, but it's actually a precious gift to the planet. It plays a significant role in balancing the environment and providing stability to different natural processes.

Wildlife in this warming world isn't doing well, and we are responsible for it. As humans, we have been so greedy all this time that we forgot every action has an equal reaction. Global warming is just a result of our actions.

Global warming isn't just melting Glaciers, but also destroying habitats. The rapid change in climate is taking the lives of many species.

It is estimated that if we didn't take immediate action on climate change, we could lose about 50% of species.

To survive, plants and animals have to adapt to climate change within their environment or move elsewhere. The change in climate will impact in different ways to the wildlife. For example, African elephants drink about 150-300 litres of water in a single day.
However, the increase in temperature will result in less rain and more droughts. Thus, it will affect elephant numbers. If the affected wildlife chose to move into new spaces and continue to thrive. The increasing human population will be a great obstacle.

We have made cities and roads that prevent plants and animals from moving into alternative habitats. Caribou (reindeer), arctic foxes, toads, polar bears, penguins, gray wolves, tree swallows, painted turtles, and salmon are the most affected wildlife species.

While the world is putting the blame for global warming on large industries, and everyone else but not themselves. We as individuals and smaller groups can help to conserve the planet and reserve the effects of global warming.

SOLUTIONS TO GLOBAL WARMING!

Global Warming has become an emerging concern for the world. Breaking records of heatwaves have led to a rapid increase in temperature. The rise in temperature has affected the lives of living organisms on Earth. And, it's not a surprise that the cause of this deadly phenomenon is none other than us.

To tackle this phenomenon we have to take adequate steps.

1. Speak Up.

Those eras have gone when people's voice was oppressed. Now we are given the right to speech, so let's make good use of it. In this time of social media, information circulates in the most effective and efficient manner. Once Mahatma Gandhi said, "Be the change you want to see in the world". So, let's start and talk about this important issue and spread concern.
2. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

We live in a world where we don't have unlimited access to resources. The resources on this planet are of a certain amount. We have to start by reducing our consumption, then reusing them before throwing them into the garbage. At last, recycling them for other uses.
3. Plant trees

In the name of development, we made forest vanish. This led to a rapid increase in carbon molecules. Which are responsible for increasing temperature. A single tree in its lifetime can absorb up to one tone of carbon. So planting more trees will surely affect the carbon molecules in the air.
4. Change to better bulbs

It is found that LED lightbulbs use up to 80 percent less energy than an ordinary bulb. Replacing the LED bulb with an ordinary bulb will save 150 pounds of carbon dioxide a year. Also, it lasts longer than an ordinary bulb.

Global Warming And Early Signs of Disaster

Our planet Earth is 4.543 billion years old and human civilization is around 200,000 years old. Since our existence on this planet, we have been so selfish that we made it difficult for other organisms to survive. Global warming is just a result of our selfish deeds.

Global warming refers to the steady increase in the average temperature of the Earth's surface. The rise of the temperature on the Earth's surface negatively affects the climate conditions. A negative change in climate conditions can harshly impact the surroundings.

Global warming takes place when carbon dioxide (CO2), greenhouse gases and other air pollutants are emitted in the environment. These gases work together to absorb the sunlight and solar radiation that have been rebounded on the Earth's surface.

Every year, scientists come across new consequences of global warming. These consequences include degrading the environment, economic and overall health of the planet. Let's take a look at the results of global warming:

The increase in Earth's temperature has resulted in melting of Glaciers. The water from Glaciers will add in the Oceans and the sea level would rise. If Global warming happens at its current rate, the time is not far when sea level would rise to such extent that our continents will get submerged. At this time the wildlife of the Glaciers is struggling for their lives due to rapid melting.

The increasing temperature will affect the forest, farms, and cities. Floods, unwanted rains, heat waves, and heavy downpours will occur frequently due to climate change. It will also damage the production from agriculture and fisheries.

The outbreaks of diseases like asthma, allergies, and infections will become more common due to higher levels of air pollution and so on.

Instead of taking major decisions to control global warming, people have ignored and called it a hoax. Last year, we pumped nearly 38.2 billion tons of carbon dioxide into the air from burning fossil fuels.

In conclusion, we have to take immediate action against global warming to ensure the survival of this planet.

National Pineapple Day

Whether It's a plate of mixed greens, a beverage, or a pizza, there truly is no place where pineapple can't be utilized. Also,
It's our favorite fruit, armed with prickles, exceptionally juicy with a vibrant tropic flavor that balances the taste of sweet and tart. It's not like any other fruit; It's a fruit that's existence is worth celebrating.

Since the discovery of Pineapple, most of the people have cherished and joyfully accepted it in their lives. In the past, the Native Americans would place a pineapple outside their hut if they were receiving visitors. Also in times of celebration or parties, people would generally put pineapple in their homes and not eat it.

These pineapples were used repeatedly until they were rotten. Thus, with time, it has emerged as a symbol of friendship, hospitality and warmth.

The National Pineapple Day, also known as International Pineapple Day is celebrated worldwide and the dates changes every year and is best celebrated by consuming this delicious fruit. You can celebrate this day in multiple ways.

Starting from eating it in freshly cut slices, drinking pineapple beverages, and making the American favorite, the pineapple upside down cake and enjoying it with your family and friends.

A pineapple a day keeps the worries away!

The Biggest Protest In Hong Kong History

The protest in Hong Kong is about an extradition bill which would allow residents and visitors to be sent for trial to mainland China.

2 Million protesters in a city of the total population of 7 million. 2 out of 7 people are out on the road fighting for their rights in Hong Kong.

It all began when the Hong Kong government introduced a bill authorizing extradition to mainland China. This extradition bill would allow residents and visitors to be sent for trial to mainland China.
According to the Hong Kong government, they just wanted to align the city's law with International standard and fill the loopholes in the city's law.
But the people of Hong Kong don't buy that. They started protesting against the government and making sure that the extradition does not get passed.

According to the civilians, this bill will take the freedom of speech and it will be misused by making wrong claims on journalists, political leaders and the general public. The people rose up to defiance, jamming the streets with as many as 2 million people. The government reacted in violence ordering use of 150 tear gas in a single night.

Seeing the outcry of the public government suspended the extradition bill. Lam also issued a formal apology. A government statement said she “pledged to adopt a most sincere and humble attitude to accept criticisms and make improvements in serving the public.” But the protesters realised that her apology doesn't extend to harsh measures of police resulted in the killing of people.

Now, the protesters are demanding the resignation of Lam who insisted on pushing through the bill despite the initial public outcry.

Sudden Death Of Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi

Death is inevitable, and It comes when It's time. This statement is agreed upon by everyone but often at times, we see people fighting, crying and blaming others on its arrival.

Certainly, no doubt that the pain of losing loved ones is unbearable, but the cause of death also plays a significant role. If it is caused by a person; he will face harsh consequences. Just like the death of Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi has become a controversy.

The first democratically elected president and chief Muslim Brotherhood official Mohamed Morsi died on 17th June 2019.
Unfortunately, he was arrested after the 2013 military coup. He was accused of leaking state secrets to Qatar, killing protesters during a sit-in outside the presidential palace, and spying for Hamas. He was facing trial in several cases and was sentenced to another two years in prison.

On Monday, Morsi was attending a session in his trial on espionage charges. The Egyptian state newspaper reported that the Egyptian President fainted and died after the case was adjourned. His body was then moved to the hospital. According to Egypt's public prosecutor, Morsi was pronounced dead on arrival at a Cario hospital, after he fainted inside the defendant's "cage" in the courtroom.

The death of the Egyptian President became a topic of controversy when people made claims that he was murdered. Erdogan claimed; Morsi was murdered because he flailed on the court for 20 minutes the authorities denied helping him.

Also, the UN called for a "thorough and transparent investigation" into the death of Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi, drawing criticism from Egypt, which accused the UN of seeking to "politicize" his death. The investigation is going on, and we hope that the Egyptian President gets justice.

AREA 51

Area 51 is a highly classified remote detachment in the United States Air Force. It's been a top secret place of the government, and no one is allowed to enter except officials. People have assumed that there is the existence of aliens and dangerous experiments are done in Area 51.

Also, many movies are built on this phenomenon making the people more curious about the area.

Social media was flooded with memes of Area 51 when a meme page on Facebook created an event, "Storm Area 51, they can't stop all of us".
Further, it said if enough people attempted to access the highly secured US research facility. The government will not be able to prevent people from entering the area. And maybe they will discover the rumoured weapons or evidence of Aliens.
Since the event was created, about 250,000 people got interested in the event, and thousands agreed to participate in the event. For the record, the event was fake and made just for fun.

The Internet found it pleasantly entertaining and has made memes out of it; relating to how the military will block people and how people will react.
